Happy March 2nd!!! It's day 2 of March....how did February go for you and where do you see yourself heading this month?
Do you ever review how the month went at the end of the month? If not, why not? It is your job to take care of you.
Do you ever look at the new month ahead, visualize where you want to be at the end of the month? If not, why not? It is your job to take care of you. See a pattern here? It is your job to take care of you. A new month is a chance to re-evaluate goals, make new ones, and sketch out plans for succeeding.
And yes, I am purposely posting this on the second day for all my perfectionists out there. It does not have to be on Day 1. You can do this on Day 2 or Day 5 or Day ____.
1. Reflect on the previous month.
What went well?
Where did you struggle?
In what areas of your life did you make progress? Can you build on that?
In what areas of your life do you feel you stalled? What would it take to get you moving there?
When were you truly happy last month? Why? How can you recapture those moments?
Writing your responses to those questions into a notebook or a journal will help solidify in your mind where you’ve been and start to give you an idea of what to do next, moving forward.
A key element to making this month fantastic is to honestly evaluate how fantastic last month was (or wasn’t). Gift yourself honesty.
2. Think Ahead. Your New Goals Should Align with Big Goals for Your Life.
Do you know what you really want out of life? Now is the time to start making plans for the life you’ll lead months and years into the future. It doesn’t need to feel overly dramatic. Just understand that you’ll never get to where you want to be if you don’t get going. Do you know where you want to be in life on 12-31-23? Have you ever asked yourself this question before?
3. Be Selective With Your Monthly Goals.
An early strategy for helping you reach your goals is to make sure you’re picking the right goals. Think about how your goals fit into your life, how attainable they are, and what it will really take to be successful. The question to ask yourself here is "Does this goal move me in a forward direction?" We can be really busy doing things...but they don't move you in a forward direction. 4. Track Your Progress.
You can help make your month fantastic by committing to tracking the progress you’re making to achieve your goals.
Go back to that notebook you used for Idea One and start a daily list of the ways you’re working on your goals. Things I track are my foods I eat, if I eat when I am hungry and stop at my enough. I track my water and hours slept. I have a goal this year for walking 365 miles and so I track that as well.
5. Allow Failure. (This is important)
You’ve made good choices with your goals, you’ve got a plan for meeting them, and you’re ready to track your progress. There’s nothing to it but to do it. But what if you can’t?
That’s all right!!!!. Setbacks are expected. Don’t beat yourself up over some failures. LISTEN IN for the self beat down thoughts you might have. Take advantage of failures as a chance to review your approach and reflect on why you met some goals and didn’t meet others. Every failure is a learning opportunity.
It's a new month!!! Are you ready with your new goals??? Life is a journey. Take advantage of this new month and make it amazing!!! It is YOUR job to make YOUR life amazing this month!!! Then do it again. And again. Month after month. Before you know it, those fantastic months will lead to fantastic years, and the completion of the goals that will bring you to where you want to be. This is a post you can come back to each month to review and use the 5 steps I have recommended. This works for anyone and any goal.
Happy March to all!! Hugs,
Coach Kammy ❤️
